may 2023 update
Grantees' reports due next month
As we shared earlier this spring, the Olympia Education Foundation received a record number of requests for grants this year from teachers, counselors, principals and other staff who work directly with students for everything from musical instruments to the opportunity to participate in the Battle of the Books. Across our three categories of grants -- Teaching & Learning, Social-Emotional Learning/Mental Health, and Browsers Books -- we are pleased to have awarded more than $140,000 in funding for projects -- at least one in every single school!
As the school year winds down, this is a gentle reminder to all successful grantees to complete your Post-Grant Report by June 22. Grantees who do not submit a report will not be eligible for funding in future years.
Based on applicants' feedback, we anticipate making a few improvements to our grants process in 2023-2024. Stay tuned for an announcement about these changes as soon as next month!
Team registration for this year's scramble now open!
Get a team of four together and join us Friday, Aug. 18, at the Olympia Country & Golf Club for the Olympia Education Foundation Scramble! (Use the "register a team" button below, then select "view available tickets.")
All proceeds from this incredibly fun day benefit the Principal's Emergency Fund -- and all of our work to empower every student!
Sponsorships -- most of which include a team of four -- are also available.
Don't delay! This tournament has sold out the past three years!
Mental health awareness night a success
Thanks to all who attended last month's Mental Health Awareness Night, which we were pleased to sponsor. We are currently in conversations about how to make possible more events like this -- which include speakers who share their lived experiences, as well as community resources available to support students -- in the upcoming school year.
And thanks to the South Sound YMCA for providing child care, Jefferson Middle School for hosting, school liaisons for translating for Spanish- and Vietnamese-speaking families, and the amazing team of district social workers who organized the evening.
sponsor spotlight
Thank you to our friends at the U.S. Martial Arts Center for your support during the past several years -- whether as a sponsor of our golf tournament or for creating your own fundraising efforts to benefit our mission. We appreciate all of the work you do to empower students in our community.
